I can't recommend this article enough. This is probably the only "2019 predictions" post I'll recommend because most are crap, but Kevin is truly exceptional. Last year he predicted VERY well. He scored himself tough and still came out with a great score. I think his predictions for 2019 are insightful and probably scary accurate.
Tim Soulo is the head of marketing for Ahrefs, one of my favorite tools and a very successful bootstrapped SaaS in a highly competitive space of SEO tools. He started as a one-man team and now has a team of 10 under him. They've grown 60% YoY for the last two years. And he helped do it all without the help of "expert advice." Tim and Ahrefs are one of my favorite examples of unconventional businesses with unconventional practices that work.
If they didn't have to create an SEO-friendly title, this post would probably be titled instead: "6 great types of content and resources that are so great that people can't help but share." This might seem like just another listicle at first glance, but it's far from it. In fact, you could probably build your entire content marketing strategy based on this blog post.
Okay so like what's up with all the Ahrefs stuff!!! Okay, I'm on an Ahrefs kick right now. But seriously, who can resist titles like these? I recommend you skip down past the "Basic SEO Checklist" and into the meaty stuff. And this goes way past your average SEO stuff... we're talking technical audits, how to write well, and much much more.
When you start a new job, a new project, or a new campaign, where do you start? If you're one of the enlightened ones, you start with your KPIs and OKRs. If you're not enlightened, you'll probably start with the product — what do we promote? how do we promote it? But there's another way, one that only the truly enlightened ones can see, and that is to start with your people. "Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time, and always start with the person nearest you." - Mother Theresa
Oh snap another Ahrefs article snuck in here 🙈 Content audits are something that have really caught some traction in the marketing world but still isn't mainstream. Can you actually see meaningful results from getting rid of content??? You sure can. Google is truly favoring quality over quantity. But it's not just about pruning. About the details. And details add up.
